Amy

Hi!

I asked Amy (amyinky) to Guest Design for the last kit of 2009. She has been a HUGE part of our PersonalScrapper.com Message Board! Not only does she post countless layouts with every single kit (i think she can stretch a kit out farther than anyone i know), she takes the time to make comments on other people's layouts, posts questions of the day and always participates in crops! Thank you Amy for being such a big part of PersonalScrapper.com!!

Here is a bio from Amy and her layouts with this kit:

Hello! I'm Amy Wheeler/AmyInKy ("Amy In Kentucky") - mom of two great, sports-loving boys; wife; avid reader; and obsessed scrapbooker. I love baseball, catchy tunes, food, a good laugh and new scrapbook supplies (not so much in that order!).

I have been scrapbooking for almost ten years and a Personal Scrapper member for almost four. I joined the message board at PS when I saw an online crop announcement in my kit in September '06 and was introduced to a wonderful group of fellow scrappers. In addition sharing layouts in online magazines, I have also contributed to PageMaps and in May 2009 had a 2-page layout included in the Creating Keepsakes idea book Easier Than Ever Scrapbooking 2. This is my third time as a guest designer for Personal Scrapper.

I would say that my style is ever-changing and very influenced by the products I am using. I am inspired by new product and use that as a jumping off point to select which photos to scrap. From there, I let my photos and stories take center stage. I mainly scrap multi-photo layouts and love working with two-page spreads. I also enjoy using challenges and sketches for inspiration.

If I'm not doing something scrap-related every day, I'm at least thinking about it! After being a stay at home mom for the past 5-1/2 years, I recently returned to work in late October. I am currently the library media clerk and volunteer coordinator for our local high school.

CROPTOBERFEST challenges (so far)

We are having a GREAT challenge all month long at PersonalScrapper.com. We have had several members come up with a challenge a day. You can either do the challenge or just attempt to do one layout a day in October (31 days). Here are the challenges so far. If you click on the PDF, you can print it with sample layouts!

CROPTOBERFEST PDF (WITH LAYOUT IDEAS)

PERSONALSCRAPPER.COM CROPTOBERFEST CHALLENGES

October 1 – Erica – Create a layout using one photo and one die-cut paper.

October 2 – Lisa – Doubles - For today's challenge use doubles somewhere on your layout. For example: I used the word "double" in my title, I also used 2 different patterned papers and 2 different cardstocks. Do one set of doubles on your page or more, just be creative and get us seeing DOUBLE!

October 3 – Amy – Super Saturday - Since the 3rd is the first Saturday of the month, I was inspired to scrap a Saturday. You can either scrap an event that happened on a Saturday or scrap something specific that you like about Saturdays in general.

October 4- Christia - "Use 4 of it" Since it's the 4th day of the month, use 4 of whatever you use. 4 brads, 4 eyelets, 4 flowers, 4 WHATEVER!

October 5 –Lindsey – Create a handmade embellishment.

October 6 – Gen – Who Do you Admire? Scrapbook a page about someone you admire and in the title use a word that describes that person.

October 7 – Amy – Lucky 7 - Let's do a "Lucky #7 challenge" and scrapbook a page about something lucky to you or by using "Lucky" in your title.

October 8 – Debbie – BINGO challenge - Are you ready to play a scrappy bingo???? My challenge to you is to pick a row (across, down or diagonal) and use those 4 things on your LO. You may use more, but no less.

October 9 – Janine - Since today is the 9th and people call me J9 I thought we'd do a challenge about names. It can be either your name and how you feel about it, you childrens names and why you chose it or the history of your last name. (no sample yet)

October 10 – Wendy – Scraplift Octoberfest! Today's challenge is to lift a LO from what is posted in the Croptoberfest 09 file. When posting your lift, please include a reference of what LO you lifted - including the challenge that the original LO came from.

October 11 – Jenn – Happy Thanksgiving - Your choice is to either do a Thanksgiving layout, or a layout about cooking something special. Happy Turkey Day!(no sample yet)

October 12 – Teresa – Frame It – Create a homemade frame (no pre-made frames allowed). Frame your picture, frame your page I don't care what is framed just as long as it is homemade.

October 13 – Jewels – Materials - For this challenge use some type of material on your layout. YOu can secure it any way you like, be creative and have fun!

October 14 – Christia – Write a letter - This challenge is "Write a letter to someone and include 1 or more pictures of them". However, if you are really stumped a good amount of journaling is acceptable by the Oct 14th challenge police. :)

October 15 – Melanie - Make a layout with a Holiday or Celebration theme

October 16 – Jess - Use circles, any way you like. Circle cut your CS, PP, pictures, round brads, etc. OR do a LO about a celebration of any sort. A birthday, holiday, an accomplishment. It's up to you. OR do a LO with both.

October 17 – Lydia – FLOWERS! Create a Layout with....FLOWERS

October 18- Joni - 1) Use Black & White cardstock and/or patterned paper (and embellishments) as your main colors & 2) Use ONE (and only ONE) accent color. & 3) Use something clear (transparencies, sheers, acrylic...etc)

October 19 – Janine – BIRTHDAY - The subject should be birthday but make sure you use 2 of everything. (2 pp, 2 cardstock, 2 buttons, etc.)

October 20 – Mel - Use only 4x6 photos--and you must use at least 3 photos. No cropping allowed! And yes, you may do a 2-pager if you'd like.

OCTOBER GUEST DESIGNER.....

I am very excited to announce our Guest Designer for October. This is her first time Guest Designing for us but she is not new to PersonalScrapper! We have had the privilege of getting to know her on our message board! Guest Designer is....

JONI!

Here is a bio from Joni and then her fabulous layouts! She did so many that I lost count!

"I started scrapbooking in late 2001 when I was trying to preserve a memory of a recently lost pet. I was so glad I was already involved in this hobby when my son, Joseph, was born in 2003. I was involved in “another” kit club and it was not quite meeting my needs, when a fellow scrapper showed me a Personal Scrapper kit. Well, that was in September of 2006 and I received my first kit October 2006 and I’ve never looked back (and cancelled the “other kit” shortly thereafter).
My husband John supports my “habit”, I mean “addiction”, I mean “craft” --- knowing that I’m preserving memories for our son and his future family. I’m truly blessed (we've been married 17 years).
In the last year or so, I realized that I was “missing something”…. I found out what it was!!! It was the message board at PS. I’ve been so blessed to meet so many great gals, build connections and get some incredible inspiration from my fellow scrappers. I can truly say that I’m honored to be part of this wonderful community. "

Fantastic job Joni! What is your favorite layout that she created? My favorite is the sweet baby and pumpkin page!

We will be posting layouts from the Design Team over the next week or so but here are a few I did with it.

I went back and scrapbooked some of my favorite photos from the Fall of 2002. I still have a ton of my kit to play with!

SEPTEMBER KIT - OCTOBER AFTERNOON

Wow - did I actually forget to post September's layouts???

We were very fortunate to be the FIRST company to have October Afternoon's new lines Report Card and Farm Fresh. What a fun set of papers to work with!

I loved using the chipboard letters from Scenic Route that were white with a grid (like grid paper). I really felt like they went well with the kit. Since they were big and bold, we also used a great smaller font from PaperTrunk. I loved the combination of the 2 alphabets.
Instead of ribbon this month, we used the Bazzill paper strips. I love the variety of patterns and how easy they were to add a little something to a page.

Flair! Yes, we used some flair from American Crafts. I really like the fun aspect of these embellishments!

Other items in the kit included journaling stickers and punctuation chipboard shapes from Scenic Route and brads from Boxer Scrapbooks.
We still have some September kits available to purchase.

JULY GUEST DESIGNER...... LINDSEY!!!

I was so excited to have Lindsey (blondegirrlie on message board) Guest Design for us this month. She always has such beautiful photos and layouts! She is very inspiring. Even with her busy life with her son and work, she manages to get layouts done! Here little boy is absolutely adorable a pefect model. We have all loved getting to know her better on the message board and look forward to her moving to the northwest later this year! Here is a little something more from her:

"Before I get started on my not so exciting bio I just want to thank Erica for giving me a chance to be the guest designer for July! This kit was SO fun to work with and the layouts I did with it all came together so easily! Hmmm well I started scrapbooking in about the 10th grade but not consistently or seriously until my son was born in 2007. Even in two short years my style has changed dramtically and it continues to evolve. I can't remember exactly, but I think I heard about Personal Scrapper from a scrapbook magazine forum that I used to frequent. I checked out the website and one thing led to another and here I am :o) My very first kit was waiting for me when I came home from the hospital after delivering my son. I remember being in the hospital and being anxious to get home to see it! I love getting kits each month and it has seriously made it so much easier to scrap! I love the ladies on the message board and all the inspiration, kind words and prayers I get from them mean so much. Thank you for this opportunity! "
